UNIVERSITY RESEARCH GRANTSSSHRC PARTNERSHIP ENGAGE GRANTS
These support short-term research partnerships between universities and a single organization in the public, private, or non-profit sector. These one-year projects deliver timely insights that help partners address practical challenges or policy questions. Funding ranges from $7,000 to $25,000, depending on project scope and needs.
SSHRC INSIGHT DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
The SSHRC Insight Development Grants support the exploration of new ideas and research questions in the social sciences and humanities. These grants fund projects of up to two years, with awards ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, helping researchers experiment with innovative methods, theoretical approaches, or interdisciplinary frameworks.
SSHRC CONNECTION GRANTS
These grants fund short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization activities such as workshops, conferences, and community outreach initiatives. Projects must be completed within one year, with awards from $7,000 to $25,000 for events and up to $50,000 for outreach activities. These grants help researchers share findings, foster collaboration, and strengthen the impact of academic knowledge beyond the university.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT FOR SOTL PRACTICE AND RESEARCH CAPACITYRESEARCH OFFICE DESIGN
Training, mentoring, and co-design services help institutions develop and strengthen their teaching and learning research programs. Support includes refining research office processes, building internal funding pipelines, creating a developmental seed–grow–cultivate grant model, and offering practical training in research methods and student-centred learning.
COIL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs connect faculty and students across borders through joint research and course-based projects. ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION SEED GRANT
A Seed Grant provides short-term funding to help organizations test new ideas or lay the groundwork for future programs. It supports projects that explore innovative approaches, build partnerships, or conduct research that can lead to longer-term impact. The goal is to learn what works before scaling. Seed grants are typically used to design pilots, develop prototypes, run feasibility studies, or gather community insights. They help organizations test assumptions, measure early outcomes, and build the evidence base needed to apply for larger Grow or Capital grants later on.
- Funding: $10,000 - $100,000
- Project Term: 6 -12 months

ONTARIO TRILLIUM GROW GRANT
A Grow Grant funds proven projects that are ready to expand their reach or deepen their impact. It supports organizations that have already tested an idea and can show measurable results. The purpose of a Grow Grant is to scale what works by increasing the number of people served, strengthening delivery, or extending geographic reach. Funding can be used for program delivery, staff, evaluation, and partnerships that build long-term sustainability. Projects typically last two to three years, with grants of up to $200,000 per year. Successful applications include strong evidence of past success,
clear performance measures, and alignment with OTF’s focus areas such as active lifestyles, connected people, and resilient communities.
- Funding: $50,000 - $200,000
- Project Term: 2 to 3 years

FEDERAL SENIORS COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM
Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade

The Seniors Community Grants range from $1,000 to $25,000. These grants support community organizations and not-for-profit community groups to promote greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement for older adults aged 55+. These grants fund projects that help seniors: live independently, live with safety and security, stay connected to their community, avoid isolation and/or achieve greater financial security and social connections.
- Funding: up to $25,000
- Project Term: Start by summer 2026 and complete by March 31, 2027.
- Most Recent Application Window: submit by Thursday, December 18, 2025.
LOCAL COMMUNITY GRANTS
Community grants provide funding to local organizations, municipalities, and charities to
